Welcome to my new blog

If you know me you know that I love antique stores, flea markets, secondhand stores, barn sales, yard sales, auctions, arts and craft shows and farmer markets.  One of my favorite ways to spend a few hours is digging around for that little treasure.   It's the "Thrill Of The Hunt" that I love, hence the name of my new blog.  Welcome... I hope you enjoy it.

I do have some criteria for things that I am looking for.  First and foremost is the price of an item.  I am very frugal and only allow myself to spend a few dollars each week.  It is very important to me that I believe I am purchasing something for less than it's value.  This allows me to feel good about my purchase.

I have many other criteria depending on what I find.  Condition of an item is important if I want it to maintain it's value.  Sometime I will purchase something in a less than perfect condition if I know that I couldn't afford that particular piece in perfect condition and I know that I will be the only one admiring it anyway.
Here is my first feature item.  I purchased this vase a few weeks ago at the Bangor Antique Mall.  This antique store is going out of business.  Much of the store is 50% off.  This vase was marked $50.  Much more than I normally allow myself but with the 50% off I thought that I wouldn't feel so bad about $25.
It had a Weller mark on the bottom.  I do not know a lot about Weller pottery but I have seen it occasionally and it is usually pricey.  I thought maybe I was getting a good buy.  When I got home I checked the ebay auctions of similar items and vases like this are going for $80 to $100.  I was happy!  I absolutely love the piece and it is in perfect condition.  It's going on a shelf in my bedroom.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy my new blog.
